Delete in the app
- Open Sudden and unlock your vault.
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm twice — deletion runs immediately.
This erases your account and all data on the spot. You'll be signed out and the app returns to the welcome screen.
Request deletion by email
If you've uninstalled the app or can't sign in, email support@sudden-app.com with the subject “Delete my Sudden account”, sent from the email address your Sudden account is registered under (we use this to verify the request is yours).
We will confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days, and usually much sooner.
What gets deleted
- Your account and profile (email address, display name, plan record)
- Your entire encrypted vault — every field in all nine modules
- All encrypted document attachments in storage
- Sealed letters, partner invitations, and sharing permissions
- Onboarding records and error logs linked to your account
Deletion is permanent. Because your vault is zero-knowledge encrypted, we hold no readable copy of it before deletion — and nothing at all afterwards. There is no recovery or “undo”.
What we may keep: payment records held by Apple, Google, or Stripe are retained by those providers under their own policies and UK tax law. They contain billing information only — never anything from your vault.
If you have a paid subscription
Deleting your account does not automatically stop a subscription billed through the App Store or Play Store — those renewals are controlled by Apple and Google, not us. Cancel it first:
- iPhone — Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Sudden → Cancel
- Android — Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Sudden → Cancel
- Subscribed on our website — email support@sudden-app.com and we'll cancel the Stripe subscription for you
