Everything you need to know

What happens to my data if I cancel my subscription? +
Your data remains intact and fully encrypted. If you cancel, you move to the Free plan — you can still view everything you've entered, but you can no longer add new entries beyond the free limit. If you delete your account entirely, your data is permanently deleted from our live systems within 30 days; encrypted copies may remain in backups after deletion, and stay unreadable to us.
Can I really not be tracked if I use the free plan? +
Correct. The free plan is free because we believe everyone deserves this tool, and because free users often become paid users or refer paid users. Your data is not the product. We do not sell data, show ads, or share your plaintext vault content with third parties on any plan.
What if I forget my password? +
Because your data is locked using a key that only your device holds, we cannot recover your password for you — we genuinely cannot access your vault data. You can reset your password, but this clears your existing vault data (the new password creates a new encryption key). Changing your password in Settings using your current password preserves your vault. This is the correct tradeoff: the alternative is storing your key on our servers, which would undermine the entire privacy promise. We recommend keeping your password somewhere safe — a fireproof safe, or a printed copy stored with your will.
Is Sudden a will-writing service? +
No. Sudden does not write wills, provide legal advice, or replace any professional service. It is the organised record that sits alongside your will, your solicitor, and your financial planner — so that when they're needed, the people who need them can find them.
Is my partner's access free? +
Yes. When you invite your partner to Sudden, their viewing account is included in your Core, Plus, or Professional subscription at no additional cost. They get a free account to view the fields you've shared with them. If they want to create their own vault, they'll need their own subscription — but there's no charge just to be a linked partner.
When is Sudden launching? +
We're targeting a launch in 2026. Early access sign-ups receive first access when we go live, along with a launch discount and early access to new features. There's no commitment required to join the early access list.
